Strategy used in blackjack tournaments is a whole different ball game than the strategy used in regular table games at the casino. The main difference between the games is the fact that you are not only playing against the dealer to win chips, but also against other players and competitors in the tourney. Blackjack Tournament Strategy Blackjack Tournaments, whether played online or at land-based casinos, offer one of the best values in the gambling world. Since tournament players are competing against each other instead of against the casino, a smart player can get a big edge by learning to play better than the average gambler.

I have been playing a bunch of Blackjack tournaments online. I mostly play heads up and am hoping to discuss good strategy with the veterans here. Where I play there is heavy juice that goes to the house (10% of buy in). Many feel that too much luck is involved to make this a profitable opportunity. I think it is possible even at the horrendous house take.
I am winning heads up tournaments at a rate just above 53% over about 500 trials. I think that if I work on my game I could get into the 56-57% win rate. Are there any other BJ tournament players here?

TournamentI have played some Blackjack heads-up tournaments within Game Account software which is used in William Hill and Paddy Power for example. There are also bots you can play against, but they seem to play close to perfect strategy. You'll learn from their playing style what the best strategy is. I seem to have slight advantage against human players who may not know the best strategy but I am not sure if it's enough to cover the rake. Also I tend to feel a bit guilty winning against humans but I would have no problem winning against house bots.

you would feel guilty using your skill to win money from other players? I guess you don't like poker either?
You would be surprised how many people play the 2 final rounds incorrectly. I can't count how many times I beat my opponent by simply surrendering my hand in the last round

In Game Account software I haven't seen surrendering being offered. To me the best strategy seems to be to try to get 1$ ahead of opponent by martingaling if necessary and then simply match his every stake to retain the edge. There are of course many more strategical decisions to be made than that.

Heads Up Blackjack Tournament Strategy Against

most online sites will allow surrender. I have been playing at betdsi (not shilling here). The strategy you propose is sound, but the real strategy starts at the 2nd to last round. If you have the lead you will want to keep the lead by matching your opponents bet, but if you have the chance you also want to get to one max bet ahead of your opponent if you can bet enough. The idea is to force your opponent into a less than desireable play like splitting 10s or doubling a hard 12-20
