The peninsula gaming destination of Macau is a unique place in the world of gambling and resorts. The spot is a former Portuguese colony, and holds a long history of legalized gambling, of which Macau’s economy is severely dependent on.
The ability for casinos to lure visitors to Macau has seen a blooming of some wonderful and extravagant resorts throughout the peninsula’s eleven square miles. Unfortunately, some casinos have been rendered dated left behind by these mega-resorts. Greek Mythology Casino is one such spot.
The Greek Mythology Casino has a very nice lobby, with Ancient Greek columns and sculptures luring players to the floor. Unfortunately, the rest of the property is run down and really not that much fun (especially when you see what is available on the Cotai Strip).
According to Greek mythology, the three gods had a game of dice and straw in a bid to split the Universe amongst themselves. When the dice were thrown, and straws were drawn, Hades snapped up the “Underworld”; Poseidon won the “seas”, and Zeus got the “Heaves.” That’s not all there’s to gambling among ancient Greek gods. Dryads (or 'tree spirits') are nymphs associated with Greek mythology which live near, or in, trees. Dryads are born bonded to a specific tree, originally, in the Indo-European Celtic-Druidic culture, an oak tree. Drys in Greek signifies 'oak,' from an Indo-European root.derew(o)- 'tree' or 'wood.' Greek Mythology Casino is located within the New Century Hotel, which has a history of vast customer complaints. Some of the issues visitors have include: chickenroaches, dirty sheets, cigarette burns in carpet and linens, and bad overall service. If you want to visit the casino, we would recommend you stay away from the hotel.
The casino itself hosts about 20 public gaming tables, 56 games, and 92 slot machines. Unfortunately, the casino is also very dirty, and just feels very amateurish in comparison to the other great casinos in Macau.
Games found at Greek Mythology Casino include: Baccarat, 3 Card Baccarat, Blackjack, Sic-Bo, slot machines, and video poker.
Somehow, VIP gaming is a big focus here (even though we can’t figure out why). Greek Mythology Casino does offer players here very nice returns, but the atmosphere is dated and really should be avoided if you want to do some high stakes betting here.
Overall, Greek Mythology is one of the worst casinos we have encountered in Macau. There really is no reason to come here to play, as the casino floor is dated and dirty, and you really shouldn’t spend the night in the hotel, as it is a filth pit that could leave you tired the next day.
